A cacophony of colour and sound snaked its way through the city streets yesterday as thousands of Sikhs celebrated the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru.
The annual Nagar Kirtan religious procession set off from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, in East Park Road and followed a route through the city to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara, in Holy Bones, near St Nicholas Circle.The procession, which has been held in the city every year since 1992, began with traditional prayers outside the Gurdwara in East Park Road.

The Sikh Museum Initiative was in attendance at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, East Park Road Leicester speaking with the community regarding the Anglo Sikh Wars Project: Battles, Treaties and Relics. They received positive feedback from the project and 100’s of leaflets were give out to the congregation visiting the Gurdwara.
